Presidency

The Former Southern British Cameroons (Ambazonia) Parliament established the Ambazonia Presidency as an institution on the 11th of February of 2019.  

The President of Ambazonia (formerly known as Southern British Cameroons) has the highest executive authority, and is elected by secret ballot in a popular vote every 4 years.

Mr. George Ayuk Agbor, the current president, was elected as Ambazonia’s first president on 11th of February 2019 by the Former Southern British Cameroons (Ambazonia) Parliament with 70% of the vote. In view of the current war waged by French Cameroon aka Republic of Cameroon (La Republique du Cameroun) on Ambazonia this vote was done in utmost secrecy.

The Deputy President is Mr. Abdul Tariq Karim. The President’s secretariat, is headed by Chief of Staff Mr Dexter Ngwanfobe. The term of the current presidency would be extended in 2023 by Parliamentary Decree until the war is over.

The President represents the people of Ambazonia at National and International levels and oversees relations and coordination between the Southern Cameroons and African countries. He also represents the people of Ambazonia at important meetings for National and International Security, and in negotiations and consultations with the Governments of neighbouring countries.

The President is responsible for approving the Prime Minister’s special appointments and promotions, and for ratifying all laws passed by the Ambazonia Parliament. He has the power to return any law passed by the Parliament, once only, for further debate and amendment.
